Many people look online for sheet music that’s free to download and print. There is a lot of controversy about downloading sheet music because of copyrights and ownership. At the end of it all the bottom line is that the ownership of the sheet music would naturally belong to the person who wrote that song and therefore they have the right to charge you a fee to reuse their music. There is no question about that.

However, there are dozens of repositories of free and legal music that you can download and play and print as you wish. most of these would be very old music that is now public domain. Many of these that are worth playing are composed by the likes of Beethoven and Mozart.

I like protecting the rights of those who place their passion in music and make our lives a little entertaining. Not only because I write music myself but also because these are people just like you and I and they deserve respect towards their chosen careers and it is also their means of income. It is absolutely wrong to download copies of music that you should have paid for - not to mention illegal!
