Simple Piano Music

Today I decided to let my son in on the piano action. He began to play a little bit here and there and at the tender age of only nine he seems to be really good at picking up on all the ideas and techniques of playing piano in both rhythm and hearing tone! I am already afraid that he will soon overtake me as he has shown a great deal of interest in both playing and reading sheet music. Wee, hopefully one day he will be a great musician but for now we shall trod along in baby steps until we get there.

As soon as I had him in front of the piano hitting a key here and a key there, I quickly took the opportunity to rush away and log on to the internet to find a few pieces of simple music to teach him and this is what I found here.

I quickly downloaded and printed these and took them to him. Immediately he began to ask me questions about those little dots and lines on the sheet in front of us! How pleased I was to see his interest in the piano as I too am an extremely passionate person when it comes to this instrument. I could not believe what I was hearing when he asked for me to show him more. So now I have taught him how to play ‘This Old Man’ which is one of his favorites! He actually points to me when he says the old man bit!

I hope that you too can find these pieces of music helpful to your children. There are plenty of well known pieces that are on that site for download and print and then you may teach your children as and when they need to learn it.
